This is one of my ideas and it incorporates the idea of the light coming on after my my accident. The first panel is a light turned off and it represents the unknowing of before the accident. I am not sure about the image I choose but i enjoy the message I am trying to portray through these cubes. The second is the a light bulb that is shattered to represent the chaos of the actual accident. The last cube is representing the light that turned of in my mind after the accident. I realized that I needed to take responsibility for my actions. I am currently working on a extension of this and also a few other sketches that I will bring on monday. For this idea I am going to work with the placement and adding type and I am also thinking about somehow making it go across the back side that just has the simple words on it right now. This was my second cube witch was a pattern of shattered glass that raps around the whole box. For my first round of boxes I felt like this was the most visually appealing. I worked the rest of my project from this box and had the idea to work the glass from a full glass to a slightly shattered glass to this box.

This cube was one of the first cubes I made and it was to represent the crazy and reckless times before the accident. This cube did go go with my other two and was to light in color and content.

My three emotions that I wanted to portray for my cubes were unknown, chaos and shattered. These three words relate to the moment of the crash instead of the before, during and after the crash. The unknowing is when I started to hydroplane and not sure what was going to happen next. The next cube is chaos and represents the craziness of the accident its self. Finally shattered represents the moment of hitting the tree and how the glass shattered all over the place. It also represents how my childhood and recklessness was shattered away and I learned that I needed to grow up. I went with the shattered glass because it really portrayed my message the best. The unknown cube had a full class with it starting to shatter. Chaos had the glass starting with bigger cracks and going to shattered glass. The final cube is the pattern of shattered glass surrounding the box.

1. My biggest challenge with this project was to execute and simplify all the crazy ideas that were going through my house. This has been a struggle since I first started this class because I always have these big ideas and in order to make them visually pleasing I need to scale down my idea. This was really hard for me and through these past two projects I have began to understand thinking simpler.

2.I have discovered that process is very important and that I need to not be so attached to my first ideas. I need to remember that it is about revising and making your beginning idea better. I have discovered that you can’t just jump into your ideas but that you need to think through them and look at the bigger picture.

3. The connect of the six sides of the 3D project was really difficult to picture in my head. In the 2D project i could see the image in my head and be able to transfer it onto the computer or a piece of paper. For the 3D project I had to physically make each of the boxes because I was have problems sketching or picturing it in my head.

4. My ideas have changed a lot because this class is really difficult and thinking about not only what I think looks good but what my viewer looks good. In this class it has shown me more about how everyone has different perspectives and can see each thing in a different way. On many of my sketches I saw one meaning and one of my piers saw a completely different meaning. Before this class I had some idea of this but taking tArt 225 that has so much pressure put on it has definitely opened my eyes to it.

In this first cube I experimented with the idea of starting off with a full glass that was slowly going into a shattered glass on the finally cube. This is one of the first ways I tried to portray this in the three dimension. When printed out and assembles I realized that it did not give the look I was going for. I will then try different techniques to make this successful. I also played around with color in my second revision. For my early boxes I wanted to portray a darker, black and white feel and then transfer into the greenish blue color of the third cube.

Fear is one of the words that kept coming up when I thought about what emotions I felt during my accident. The thing that shocked me was that it wasn’t the fear of what would happen to me but it was the fear of what would happen to everyone around me. People always say that when you go through a dramatic event they see there lives flash before their eyes. That didn’t happen to me, actually the complete opposite happened to me. I felt as if everything left my mind and all I could think about was the fear of the unknown. The fear for the people who were in the car with me, my family and myself were flying threw my head in what seemed to be a lifetime.

Now thinking back about my ah ha moment instead of focusing on the actual event itself I started to think about the emotions that were occurring. I started to think about the emotion that happened with before and after the accident and how one instant could change someone. I then began to think about the the whole aspect of a single moment and what that means. Through all these thoughts and ideas I came up with the idea of doing my first tryptic with the reckless lighthearted theme that I was feeling right before the accident. I would then express that moment of the accident and the cluster of emotions that were going on. I would finish with the moment after we made contact with the tree and the unknowing and fearful fillings that were happening. These were just a few of the emotions I was exploring for this project.

In the critic in class we discussed how my first panel seemed to not go with the other two. In order to fix this problem I decided to make it white so it will go with the other side. We also talked about how since the lightbulb and word “wisdom” were a different direction it threw off the rhythm of the piece. I tilted the lightbulb and word along with adding more yellow around the edges of the lightbulb to tie the first and third panels. These changes made my piece more dynamic and visually interesting.

In my first project I wanted to start the tryptic with a panel that had a lot going on and showed the craziness of my life at the time. I then went on the a simple picture that shows not only the shattering glass but the black ice that my car slid on. I then finished the tryptic with a simple clear panel that is very breezy to show how I felt after the accident. I found it interesting that the road pattern turns into a quoted that I wrote in one of my free writes.

In my mood board I incorporated images of cars and images that reminded me of sharp collisions. I used images such as smoke and broken glass to show the literal meaning of my ah ha moment. I also put solid colors such as blue and grey to represent the dark and fear moment I experienced.

In this logo I used eight lower case Ns to make a flower like symbol. Because of the circular form the logo it made it very interesting to make patters with this logo. I also decided to off center the Ns in order to not make it look like a cross.

In this symbol I used four lower case As to create an insect like icon. It creates cool negative and positive shaped such as the four circles and four triangles in the center. This was my favorite of the logos i created.
